Heading north for school holidays
We’re back on the road!
A mini break to QLD before the big trip, but this time we decided to take our time getting there.
First stop was Urunga and a nice little park on the river. The rain stopped long enough for us to pop the awning out and the concrete pad made it easy to hang outside for the night.
We grabbed a few meals from Activate Foods before we left which has made dinner nice and easy. Definitely handy for those first few nights and they are delicious!

Next morning we were up nice and early for surprise #1 – breakfast at The Big Banana Fun Park!
Those that have asked Emily the things she wants to see on our big trip will know that The Big Banana Cafe was in the top five, so it was good to tick that one off. All credit to her – it was a good feed 🙂

After that we headed up the road to Mullumbimby and parked up at the local leagues club for the night. It’s a basic spot, and muddy with all this rain, but a good spot to stop, nice amenities and only $35/night for all of us.

Surprise #2 was on the agenda for the rest of the afternoon and. wow. Just wow. What an experience.
We can’t thank Michael and Michaele enough for the tickets into the Crystal Castle – it was amazing.
We spent a wonderfully drizzly afternoon wandering the gardens, marvelling at the amazing crystals, enjoying a sound bath (more wow) and finishing off with a pretty delicious hot chocolate.

Off to Brisbane tomorrow – looking forward to seeing the family (and desperately hoping the rain stops!)
We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands we explore and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.
Our travels started on Darkinjung/Guringai country. We travelled
through Awabakal, Worimi, Biripi and Dainggatti country, resting finally on Gunbainggir and then Bundjalung country.
