Heading to Dubbo

Day 14 – NSW Road Trip 2020

Urgh that number ain’t great.

By now we’re considering throwing caution to the wind, turning the van north and running away from the real world. Mum and Dad agree – they are already questioning their decision to follow us south (pretty sure this is the coldest winter they have had since having the van!)

Instead we hook up the trusty stead’s and turn east towards Dubbo.

First stop was Nyngan for morning tea in a great rest stop with clean toilets, always a bonus

Selfie at Nyngan to send to my friend Michelle.

Then on to Narromine for lunch in the park (lucky we bring those well stocked roadside cafes along with us). No photos cause it was freezing! All we wanted to do was eat and get back on the road.

Finally we arrived in Dubbo. The kids were so excited – this part of the trip was their choice and the whole reason we went on the road.

The park was super exciting as well, it’s the first van park we have stopped in this holiday that’s more of the coastal-type holiday parks with lots of things for the kids. There were excited squeals as they spotted the water play park, the jumping pillow and the playground.

Once we were all set up Garth and I headed into Dubbo for car supplies and to hit up the local “health food shop”. We were not disappointed- so good!

We left the kids with Mum and Dad – well, we left them at the park in the caravan park with Nana and Grandad in charge. The only time they saw them was when the MR Whippy van turned up, of course!

After playing until it was cold and dark we finally dragged them in to warm up. The girls caught up on some journal writing while we made dinner and finished off with some drawing and a game of squares with Dad.

Tomorrow’s the big day…

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands we explore and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.

Today we left Wongaibon country, travelling into, and resting in Wiradjuri country.
