Day 8 – NSW road trip 2020
(I think, I mean who knows what the actual day is!)
Matilda rose in a delightful mood this morning (lucky Mum knows how to turn that around), so the girls were kicked outside to eat, write on their post cards and draw while we packed up the van.
After a early morning soak in the pools of course!
Then it was a quick cuppa and goodbye with Suzanne and Greg before hitting the road.
All these hot baths and the magnesium in them makes for two sleepy girls – it was the quietest part of the trip yet!
We have really enjoyed watching the scenery change along the way, the landscape and the sky are so big out here.
We excitedly made it to Lightning Ridge, a quick stop at the sign into town for photos and our first painted rock find of the trip.
Then it was off to the caravan park where Matilda spotted the girls next surprise – Nana and Grandad are here!
All set up and waiting for us – Matilda near jumped out the window when she saw them.
All set up in the park we wandered down the road to the thermal baths – these ones are hot! ![]()

After another good soak, it was back to the van. The girls spent the afternoon filling out their journals.
After a family dinner we all wandered over to the communal campfire for marshmallows, some fire starring and a chat with other travellers.
Canβt ask for much more out of one day.
Looking forward to spending a few days exploring Lightning Ridge.

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the Kamilaroi lands we explored today and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.
