Day 6 – NSW road trip 2020
So it’s the end of a long day 6. But what a day!
I didn’t think we could top the kids flying with Garth, but this definitely had to be an equal, if not slightly higher highlight.
We were lucky to receive an invite to join a friend of Evelynne and Robert’s ballooning over Tenterfield before we left.
There aren’t many words to describe it, but peaceful and magic come close.
Also cold. Very very cold! But that was only before we got in the basket.
The whole experience was amazing – from the heavy frost, full moon and sunset colours, Tenterfield put on quite the show.
I don’t think there was a warm toe in the basket by the time we jumped in, but it was great to take part in getting the balloon off the ground and packing it up as well.
I could write for hours about the experience, but I think it’s safe to say it’s just something you have to try.
A huge thanks to Rob for arranging and the wonderful Evelynne for staying at home with the girls, feeding them, putting up with the non-stop-chatter and opening the nail bar! It was an experience we won’t forget.
Sadly after the mornings adventure it was time to pack the chariot and move on – more adventures await.
Mr Google isn’t our best friend tonight after sending us a little awol and making the trip a little longer than it should have been, but hey, we’ve seen more than we had planned.
We discovered the most popular place in Bonshaw was the tiny service station come take-away place where you need to tell the attendant how much your fuel came to, because they’re “not that modern” and it’s not automatically transmitted inside.
Cafe Windsor Rapid opened again, this time with alfresco dining at Yetman. Anyone that complains their local park doesn’t have enough for the kids hasn’t pulled up to a rest stop at like this one, with two small ride one thingys and seen the kids exhaust themselves on just these. Genius.
Then on with more driving, a lot of eye-spy and some Found It challenges (these are great driving games – and we’re a bargain on MarketPlace) until we reached Moree!
After a little kerfuffle with the site, we’re on. The kids disappeared on their scooters while we set up.
They were super keen to get into the thermal baths but we had one more surprise up our sleeve…
Nell and Pop! (Oh and of course Coco).
After a feast in their motel (OMG the Indian was exceptional) we are all tucked up for a much needed good nights sleep.
Tomorrow the biggest adventure we expect is soaking in the thermal pools. Over and over again.
Night night.

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands we explore and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.
Today we left Ngarabal country, travelling into, and resting in Kamilaroi country.
