Dads dream come true

Day 5 – NSW road trip 2020

An exciting day for the girls today – their first flight in a small plane, made even more exciting that Dad flew for part of the trip, including the landing!

The girls loved every minute – even when Rob and Dad dipped the wings so Em could see out the windows.

Em’s only complaint was that there were no pink headsets.

While the boys and the kids flew, Evelynne and I popped into town to pick up some essentials and have a wander around the local art gallery – it was great to see many talented locals on display.

Next stop was the Railway Museum – the girls soaked this up more than I had anticipated. By the time Evelynne and I arrived they could sprout all sorts of facts and Ems refused to leave until we had seen everything.

Off for a lovely lunch and some post card writing. We are enjoying reading what the girls choose to write on their postcards and journals – it really gives you an insight into how they perceive the holiday and what they have learnt.

From there we had a wander around town (sadly the Tenterfield Saddler is currently closed – so no visiting there), including back to the art gallery and then home to write in the journals and play with the dogs.

Evelynne has been encouraging Matilda’s interest in the 1000 Hearts project – so she helped Til cut out some hearts and a template and has sent us on our way with needles and thread to practice (thank you!).

A lovely night spent around the fire, reminiscing with some old photos and off to bed relatively early before tomorrow’s adventure!

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the Ngarabal lands we explored today and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.
