Day 3 – NSW road trip 2020
A day spent in Glen Innes (which only made us want to stay longer. We will be back).
The girls filled out their first entry in their travel journals this morning while we packed the van a little better and generally enjoyed stopping for a little while.

Then it was off to morning tea with Uncle Mark and Aunty Gail (and her spiffy earrings) before heading to the Knick-Knackery for a wander amongst the gems only a store like this could offer.

From there we were blessed with a day of family time – first with Troy, Jo and the kids we feasted at the Strawberry Farm and ran the kids ragged at the park.
The girls became fast friends and the boys gladly stepped in to help look after the little ones (if they pretended they didn’t!)

Then we spent the afternoon with Mark, Nat and the boys – so many laughs at young master Travis who welcomed us with open arms (literally hugged the girls as they arrived) and put on a show for the rest of the afternoon. It’s so nice to see Angus growing up.
It was great to give the girls a chance to spend time with their extended family (even if Emily asked “which Uncle Mark” every time we mention one of them!)

How about we do selfies?

Once we were home, Matilda decided to warm up in bed while the van warmed up! I think if I had left her there she may have just called it a night.

Although then she would have missed out on the strawberries for dessert… ![]()

It’s already -1C, so the toilet and teeth run had them all rugged up
. Thankfully Great-Nan’s hand-me-down step was in the car, Ems can now bring her teeth without me lifting her #shortgirlproblems

And to finish the day – an update on the one shoe saga… We have a pair! Well… not really a pair but it turns out Miss Em and I had made a deal. She could pack her one gold plugger to wear sometimes (she likes to wear mismatched pairs) but not on the day we were leaving. The gold one is too big and she can’t really walk in it, which drives me nuts.

Turns out, the one she left behind was the same foot as the gold one. So now we at least have a pair to shower in.
Mad kid that one.
Tomorrow we hitch up and head for Tenterfield. I wonder what adventures await?

(Mum says – I don’t care, it’s 1C out there! Zip them back up!)
We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the Gunbainggir lands where explored today and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.
