Day 2 – NSW Road Trip 2020
A massive day for Team Schwartz – 527kms and 9hrs 40mins from door to camp site, but we made it to Glen Innes!
First stop was Peter and Jo’s – just to give the Van a once over before we hit the road. The girls took advantage of the sun and ate breakfast on the driveway.

First (of many) Emily classic moments today – opened the car to get her out and asked her to put her shoes one.
“I only wore one Mum”
Yup, she wore just one plugger, never thought to mention that to anyone before now. ![]()

Then it was time to hit the road.
We had a pretty uneventful trip for the most part. Stopped at a few rest stops for a loo break (for my CCC colleagues – I can’t help but check if public bathrooms have soap
).
Lunch in the van – now known as Cafe Windsor Rapid – at Tamworth.

Things got a little more interesting after this – the clouds started to build in the distance, then the road got wet. Eventually we caught up with the rain, then the lightning, then the torrential rain and finally hail!
Yup – we managed to find a hail storm – in July – in the Northern Tablelands.
Thankfully it was more like very angry snow (or Snail as Matilda has names it
) – and passes pretty quickly.
A wet, but not so hairy trip the rest of the way, with the weather clearing as we came into Glen.
All set up, another beautiful sunset (and another Emily classic) and we’re all settled.
Tomorrow we catch up with the family and explore Glen a little.

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands we
explore and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging.
Our travels today started on Darkinjung/Guringai country. We travelled
through Awabakal, Worimi, Biripi and Nganyaywana country, resting finally on Gunbainggir country.
